( soft techno music) – Hey guys, how are you all doing? Actually? That’s just great, I’mdoing pretty great today very because it’s 2020 and I have an original iPhone, here with me. This thing came out virtually 13 years ago but recently Apple blessedus with the iPhone 11 Pro with it’s beefy camera system. And it got me reviewing, how does the camera system on now stack up to the originalcamera system they sent with the OG iPhone in 2007. So there’s only oneway to find out, right? Let’s take some paints. Before we get in depth, here’s a few sample photos I shot. I’ll acknowledge the original iPhone held up a little better than I thought it would. My main issue was focusing on close-ups but we’ll revisit that topic later. Another striking distinguish , no pun proposed, was the difference in dynamic wander and we’ll revisit this later, too. Here’s a immediate run down of the specs. The first-gen iPhone has asingle two-megapixel camera and a three stage five inch screen with 320 -by-4 80 resolution. The iPhone 11 Pro has four cameras, three of which are on the back, the cameras have differing focal segments and each utilizes a 12 -megapixel sensor. The iPhone 11 Pro boastings a five point eight inchOLED Super Retina XDR display with a two millionto one contrast ratio, and a 2436 -by-1 125 resolving. So precisely from rattling off the specs, it seems like the iPhone1 1 Pro is just gonna smoke the original iPhone, right? But like I’ve said before, it’snot about the tools “youre using”, it’s about how you use the tools. So you can still get greatpictures with the OG iPhone. But let’s look at some more comparings and realise what the similaritiesand gaps are. But also we’ll take a lookat some of the subtleties that come along with using an older phone. One big-hearted facet I missed whileusing the original iPhone straight off was the tap to focus feature. It’s something we use withouteven thinking about it today. But I entirely forgot this boast doesn’t even exist in this manoeuvre. I must be given to rely completelyon the secured focus.Yeah, there was no autofocus either. Ah, exceedingly humble beginnings. You too can’t use the volumebutton to take a picture, which is a handy shortcutwe enjoyed today. Another thing I forgotabout is how minimalist the old-time camera app was. There’s no manualcontrols, there’s no grids, there’s no filters , not even a timer. And on newer iOS explanations, Ilike to swipe on my fasten screen to get to the camera, but on the older iPhone, you had to unlock thedevice, locate the camera app and then open it. Boy, we’re really spoiled nowadays. Anyway, let’s go aheadand shoot some photos. Since the first-gen iPhoneuses a two megapixel sensor, all its photos will rendersmaller so prevent that in knowledge as you’re watching this video on your 120 -inch 8Ktelevision in your humanity cave.First thing I noticed isthe fuzziness of the 2G pic. And like I mentioned earlier, I witnessed it hard to focus on close up objects and tap to focus wasn’t a feature yet on this simulation. I tried moving to differentdistances but had little prosperity. But keep in mind automacro too wasn’t a feature until the iPhone 3GS so closeups will be a challenge. That aside you’ll notice on the lamp a significant differencewhen it comes to the bokeh or the bow-kuh if you’rethat kind of person. In the first-gen photo, we don’tget much shallowness at all but we get plenty with the iPhone 11 Pro.Keep in attention this is withoutportrait mode enabled by the way, so this iscompletely done optically. There’s also more noisein the first-gen photo, probably because the ISO is cranking up to compensate for the low sun. Too the noise in the first-genphoto looks more colored and a little messy, but theiPhone 11 Pro’s noise reviews more clean, and the sharpforeground items are preserved. Let’s do a dynamic series exam. Both of these look all right, but in the first-gen photo, you’ll understand our foregrounds clip. Whereas in the iPhone 11 Prophoto, more detailed information in the wall and the sun fixture are saved. In this low light scenario. The first-gen held up decently naturally, but like the last photo, theblacks looking more crushed. And again, it was harderto focus on the foreground, but overall it performedbetter than I expected. Now if we take a look atsharpness, items in the lumber saw a little splotchyin the first-gen photo, but overall the image doesalso seem under disclosed. Again it’s all automaticsettings, so I had no control over the show and the focus is fixed. In the 11 Pro photo shows are both balanced and the sharpness is preserved. I’m no computer scientist, but I believe some of that sharpness preservationis helped stirred possible by penetrating fusion, a photo feature in iOS. The background is also shallow, which I fantasize sounds prettier. And it’s difficult toachieve that on the first-gen because of the optics. There’s many parts thataffect the shallowness of a photograph but inthe original iPhone, the wider lens and the smaller aperture, are some of those most important reason of the reasons why we can’t achieve the shallow look.Regarding color, thefirst-gens color ogles nearly identical to the 11 Pro. The big differences again arein the highlights and shadows. Likewise, I noticed more shutter slowdown in the first-gen photos too, the showing term metadata isn’tpresent in any of the data I face-lift from the phone. But time from a visual position, it looks like the shutter is slower than in the 11 Propics, but because the first-gen doesn’t have all thecomputational photography stunts and more advanced optics andsensors that are in the 11 Pro, it has to fall back on settingslike a longer exposure time to get more light into the photo. But the longer youexpose, the more streaking you can get with shutter lag.Now there’s no breast facingcamera on the OG iPhone, so what the heck did parties do before “weve had” the modern daylight selfie? Do you retain? That’s right, we abused a lavatory reflect. Okay, so my particular fullbody mirror isn’t in a bathroom. But that aside, unsurprisingly, the surface feelings search more true to life on the 11 Pro. And again, this is probablydue to a lot of the computational mysteries behind the phone. But this is also becausethe noise is more colored in the first-gen photo which intervenes with that neat scalp seem. Too, just in case JJ Abrams is watching. This is how lens explosions equate. So do with that what you will. And I would also love to compare video recording capabilitiesbut the original iPhone didn’t have a video camera. So we’ll have to skip that. Today I feel a lotof us take engineering and aspects for grantedbecause things change a good deal. So it’s kind of humblingto use an older device really to see what kind offeatures we had back then. So I encourage you do that every so often. And like I say, especiallywhen it comes to photography, it’s the skills , not the tools, you can still take enormous photoswith something like this, because in the end, the best camera is the one you have with you. Thanks for sticking with me. Catch the crazy and pass it on.( soft techno music ).
